Who I Am

I am an artist, writer, mom, wife, Buddhist, nature-lover and certified life/creativity coach who loves connecting people with nature for creative inspiration.

Nature carries two meanings in my daily life, referring to both the natural world and one’s own, inner nature. The opportunity to establish this concept in a coaching practice that blends two of the things I love most—nature and creative expression—has been the highlight of my career so far. It is a wonderful opportunity to be able to help others expand their creative presence and share their gifts inspired by nature, of which I am most grateful to be a part!

I would love to meet you and learn more about YOU! I am inspired by many things: nature, the "treasures" I find in desert junk piles, oddities, the night sky, and music to name a few, but it is the people I meet who often inspire me! Feel free to contact me with any questions, to request a complimentary session, or just to introduce yourself!

Let nature be your muse!

My Coaching Philosophy

As a creativity coach, I believe in the value of nature as an alternative source of creative inspiration. I frequently "assign" easy and fun nature and creativity exercises as a tool for helping clients (re)discover their intuitive nature for productive results and renewed inspiration.

Establishing a mindful coaching relationship is like experiencing nature on your mind, body, and soul. It eliminates mental clutter and frees the conscious mind of obstacles, creating the inner balance needed for carrying out one’s purpose. It releases inhibitions that are holding you back and creates a new and stimulating mental environment--not unlike the creative process! Parallel to the cycles of nature—we too experience the embodiment of these dynamic processes.  It is through supportive coaching, where clients learn to listen to their inner wisdom, and recognize the personal potential revealed in their own unique cycles and daily rhythms—while generating the creative life they love to live.

My coaching style is intuitively inspired through my clients, the creative process, and nature. But you certainly do not have to be a "nature lover" or an established artist to benefit from our coaching partnership. My practice combines dynamic coaching principles built upon the co-creative method—a synergistic, magical energy between two, equal participants where clients achieve compelling results. As a coach, allowing clients to open up to their personal nature provides opportunity for honest connection and candid approval in one’s self and abilities—helping to maintain creative expression in their daily lives—private or professional.

My Background

I became certified through the Coach Training Alliance (CTA), a top 10, International Coach Federation (ICF) accredited coach training program. I have an A.S. in Botany and a B.A. in Anthropology that began a museum career dedicated to natural history exhibitions and public outreach that allowed me to express myself through loads of writing and creative programming for all ages.

That experience eventually led me to create my own natural science-based business, Caliso Learning, where I've established numerous collaborative relationships with other natural science based organizations for effective programming--always in the spirit of connecting families with nature. As an educator and speaker with Caliso Learning I've enjoyed creating a variety of educator resources as well as organizing and leading educational, outdoor experiences (ages toddler to adult) designed to connect people with the benefits of nature, for over 15 years.

I am also a "found art/recycled" artist, creating assemblage and sculpture primarily from found metal parts collected while junking in the desert (picking up junk--not dumping!). I also love to paint, draw, doodle, create mini-installation pieces, and most recently discovered a creative release through altered playing cards (APC's). I am an enthusiastic supporter and participant in Rosa Murillo's Found Art Tuesday project in which I leave some of my pieces in public places and on nature trailheads for people to find!

My Clients

I enjoy working with creative beings encouraged by personal growth and challenge, who value their creative goals and their unique, creative abilities. I help clients who are motivated to create a positive impact in their lives--big or small--to create significant results. My clients are individuals who are inspired personalities and seek to clearly define their true nature and expand their personal potential. I enjoy working with those open to change and willing to apply themselves and move beyond their comfort zones in order to manifest their creative goals. In other words, I love working with people just like YOU!
